DFM
Every finding cites a rule and, where geometry was measured, the actual number. Here's what each part means.
When a finding shows rule and measured, that's a real check: your stated or measured value against the rulebook's threshold for that process. Wall thickness and overhang angle from an uploaded STL are measured from the actual mesh — see uploading an STL. Anything stated only in text is read from your brief and treated as a claim, not a measurement — DFM says so.
Curious what the actual rule values are for FDM, SLA, or CNC? They're not a secret — the full rulebook is public.
A design passes the manufacturability threshold at a score of 0.75 or higher and zero open blocking issues. Below that, or with a blocking issue open, export stays refused until you either fix the design or explicitly override the gate — ForgeLab never exports a design that hasn't cleared this on its own.
When DFM finds a blocking or major issue, the Design agent gets one automatic pass to apply the smallest geometry change that clears it, then DFM re-checks. You'll see this as a cycle in the run — before and after scores, and exactly what changed. If it still doesn't clear after that, it's handed back to you rather than looped indefinitely.
